The Hedge Knight, HBO’s new Game of Thrones spinoff is about Dunk & Egg

Game of Thrones will get yet another spinoff series. This time, it’s based on George R.R. Martin’s most loved stories. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe: Dunk and Egg. This series will be called Hedge Knight and has already been ordered by HBO, but there’s no word yet on when it might arrive.

Hedge KnightThe tales of Ser Duncan the Tall, the legendary knight, and his squire Egg (aka Aegon V Targaryen) will be told as the pair travel through Westeros, embarking on adventures and quests that took place over 100 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. Martin has largely shared the story through his book. A Knight of Seven KingdomsThis book includes a couple of stories about them.

HBO has already greenlit this prequel. Game of Thrones, after last year’s House of the Dragon. While House of the Dragon is returning for a second season, there’s no word yet on when it will be back, though production on season 2 officially commenced earlier this month. While these are the only two series with the official greenlight from HBO, the network is also developing other series set in the Game of Thrones universe including a Jon Snow sequel series, an animated series, and a series about Aegon’s Conquest.
