The Game Awards Return This December

This December, the Game Awards returns for their 9th Annual Show. 

The Game Awards 2022, which will air on Thursday, December 8th 2022, will feature an interactive live broadcast that will stream to more than 40 digital platforms, including YouTube and Twitch. After reaching a new audience of 85,000,000 people with The Game Awards 20,21, the show hopes to set more records this year. 

A new Best Adaptation category will be featured on the show. This is a category that recognizes creative work that has authentically adapted video games intellectual property to other media such as streaming videos, podcasts and novels. 

This is a category that would recognize films like Mortal Kombat Sonic the Hedgehog 2,along with other adaptations of video games such as the Halo TV seriesComics or cartoons you like Fortnite’s Zero War series. 

Geoff Keighley, executive producer of The Game Awards writes that the Best Adaptation Award “is a way for gamers and fans to show their appreciation for creative adaptations of our favourite gaming franchises.” He also released a press release. “With so many game-inspired projects across entertainment, the time is right to honor excellence in adapting video game worlds to other mediums.” 

The Game Awards 2022 will be a continuation of years past and include new world premieres, spectacular announcements, as well musical performances. This includes the return to The Game Awards orchestra, which Lorne Balfe conducts. The IMAX Experience has been created by The Game Awards. This is a community event that brings together people from all over the globe to enjoy The Game Awards. We will provide more information on participating theaters in the future.
