The Exorcist: Believer looks a lot like every other possession movie

This classic horror film is getting a sequel. The Exorcist – Believer. Last week, David Gordon Green’s new film, which is a sequel to the recent and very bad Halloween Trilogy, released its first trailer ahead of some certain dates. Oppenheimer screenings, but it’s now online for everyone to see.

Two young girls are suddenly exorcised in the trailer. The hospital admits both girls, who show signs of possession. However, professionals hesitate to label it supernatural. The parents bring in Chris MacNeil who is played by Ellen Burstyn, as the mother of the first movie. The trailer then devolves to one-note reference of the original film, with a bizarre picture of Reagan, played by Linda Blair, which seems like a wholesale copy of the poster for Sarah T. — Portrait of a Teenage AlcoholicBlair also appeared in another film. 5

As with any movie there’s still a chance that what’s really going on here is a bad trailer rather than a bad movie being advertised properly. The real tragedy, at least from this initial look, is how similar it looks to other films about possessions and exorcisms. This trailer contains scenes that could have come from any number of movies. The Pope’s Exorcist and you’d barely know.

Most people are familiar with the original Exorcist, it’s actually one of the best and most interesting horror series ever made. It’s a great horror series. The first one is a classic. But the second has a duel storyline that gives a glimpse into how Reagan handled her own life when she was possessed. Third, one of the strangest and most intriguing supernatural horror films, features a demon killer who stalks Washington DC. Finally, more or less, there’s the most recent movie, Dominion which follows Father Lankester Merrin (Stellan Skarsgård), the priest from the first movie, in his younger days during his first encounter with Pazuzu.

All of these movies are worth seeing and unique in their own right. Hopefully, when The Exorcist – BelieverWhen the new album, “The Fall,” drops on October 13, it’ll be a nice surprise.
