The Evil Within’s Creators Made A Colorful Rhythm Game And It’s Out Today

Tango Gameworks announced Hi-Fi Rush as its next title during the Xbox Live and Bethesda Developer_Direct stream. If you’re familiar with the previous games by this studio, you’ll notice a drastic change in tone, style and gameplay.

Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm action where combat, traversal, and even cutscenes all play to the beat of the game’s soundtrack. Aesthetically, Hi-Fi Rush sits somewhere between Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive and a Saturday morning cartoon – which is to say, bright, over-the-top, and colorful. This is a far cry from Tango’s previous outings like Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within, both of which emphasize terror and the supernatural.

Hi-Fi Rush, available on Xbox One and PC via Game Pass later today. John Johanas (who previously directed The Evil Within 2) directed it. You’ll find licensed music by Nine Inch Nails and The Black Keys as well as The Prodigy.
