This is not a comprehensive list of all the action movies that will be released in 2022. It’s just a selection of the best.

American blockbuster theatrical films

Hollywood has returned to full speed despite the ongoing pandemic. Both Marvel and DC are releasing a number of superhero blockbusters this year. Other than the MCU movies like Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of MadnessAnd Thor: Love and Thunder, it’s the animated sequel Across the Spider-VerseThis fall’s release is expected to be the one that embraces the surprise and wonder. It’s also hard not to eagerly await Matt Reeves’ version of Batman despite the character’s ubiquity — with its stacked cast and gorgeous trailers, the film could end up being one the year’s biggest events. Others blockbusters worth watching include Ambulance It seems that Michael Bay is the one who discovered drones. Bullet TrainThis is the next event from David Leitch or 87North. Stallone’s side, the franchise will make its comeback. The Expendables 4. The third movie left much to be desired. However, it’s possible for the team to salvage the series using more skillful action and less winky-winky dialogue. It’s always a pleasure to see the Stallone-Statham-Lundgren trio back together on the screen, and the addition of amazing martial artists such as Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais seems like a good thing. Statham also stars in Guy Ritchie’s fun-looking actioner. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre…which, after the surprising success that was Wrath of ManThe Ritchie joint of last year could have surprised viewers in surprising ways.

Rajamouli’s massive follow-up to the game-changing Baahubali series. The sequel to the rousing 2018 hit — in which a gangster went undercover as a slave to eliminate the owner of a gold mine — KGF: Chapter 2. This film is possibly the most anticipated in Sandalwood’s history. It’s hard to know which release Indian cinema fans are more hyped up for, but it appears the stakes are as high as they’ve ever been in Kollywood for Ajith Kumar’s ValimaiThis looks almost like a love letter from India to the motorcycle stunts that only India could produce.

Japan is unperturbed

Similar to India, Japan’s market for films is unique in that they are made in Japan and make money in Japan without exports. This partly explains why Japanese movies can take up to a year or more to arrive on Western shores, as opposed Indian films, which are more widely available around the world. Let’s hope it takes less time for Shin Ultraman to cross Japan’s borders. This new adaptation of the 1966 series is expected to be a spiritual successor to Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno’s acclaimed Shin Godzilla.

What’s left of the Hong Kong glory days?

The fate of the Hong Kong film industry is still up in the air, but it did give us one of last year’s best action films with Raging Fire. We are now wondering what the film industry has in store. There are quite a few action movies in the pipeline, but probably the most important one is Warriors of the FutureThis is a blockbuster sci-fi movie about a post-apocalyptic world. Production wrapped up in 2017, but it should now be available. It’s hard not to be curious about The White Storm 3 as well, since the two previous installments managed to solidly entertain while recalling the good old days of the early 1990s, when the industry could go all out and offer a spectacle the likes of which we couldn’t see anywhere else.

The most thrilling film might be, however. Kowloon Walled CityIt is currently in production, and is scheduled for release late 2022. Soi Cheang (the man behind the amazing film) directs. SPL II: The Time for Consequences (Tony Jaa! Two films dominated the box office last year: The family comedy and Spider-Man 2. Mama, it’s me!The war film, and. Battle at Lake Changjin. This sequel is being named Water Gate BridgeThree of China’s most prominent filmmakers are still co-directing the film, Chen Kaige (Dante Lam), Chen Kaige (Chen Kaige), and Tsui Hark (the legendary Tsui Hartk). It is unsurprising that it looks even better than its predecessor.

Designed to arouse patriotic feelings and celebrate Chinese victories over foreign forces, these films have become a staple of the country’s output. Zhang Yimou is an internationally acclaimed director. He also co-directed another film with Zhang Mo, his daughter. SniperThe story of a young soldier who killed a lot of American troops during the Korean war. Yes, it sounds exactly like Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper. China does not intend to dominate war films. Project with a budget of $445 million Fengshen Trilogy, now in post-production, aims at becoming the “Chinese Lord of the Rings,” according to its director. The project is still in its early stages, although a teaser clip has been on the internet for some time. Let’s hope 2022 is the year they finally unleash it on the screens.

Western direct-to-video actioners

Sure, DTV movies aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. You need to avoid approaching all DTV films in the same manner as major releases. Because these films are often filled with action gold, even though they have a small budget. This is because some of the most dedicated and skilled people working in this industry make them. Scott Adkins is the indie-action king and will return to screens very soon. Accident Man 2The sequel to 2015’s British comic book adaptation is titled. Accident ManAdkins holds comics dear to his heart, and this project is undoubtedly his most intimate. Reliably solid DTV filmmaker William Kaufman (Marine 4, Daylight’s EndThe first film will be the debut of a series of movies by (). Outsiders

Let’s finish up with three auteur-driven, mid-budget oddities — neither blockbusters nor DTV indies — no one was really thinking about in the action film category a mere few weeks ago. The first is the Robert Eggers-directed The Northman revealed itself in a recent trailer as what appears to be an epic journey of revenge born of the same mould as John Milius’ Conan the Barbarian. Because he’s the director, however, there may be more to him than meets the eyes and it is impossible to predict how important the final action will actually matter. C.C., the swordmaster is still a good choice. Smiff (Star Wars, The Outlaw King) on duty, and Eggers’ incredible eye for striking visuals, there is enormous potential. Next up, the Daniels’ version of the multiverse Everything at onceThis has many advantages beyond just its bizarre premise. Michelle Yeoh (action legend) and her Martial Club brothers are both on action duties. This is a big deal, as the YouTube stars, who have proven over and over again to be both talented and creative, were hired by the late Brad Allen (Jackie Chan’s protégé) himself to train Simu Liu for his Shang-Chi role. They have everything to show with this movie, and it looks great.
