The Ascent Climbs To PlayStation In March, New Game Plus Now Available For PC

Cyberpunk twin stick shooter The Ascent has a new home at PlayStation. It has been only available on Xbox consoles since July last year.

PS5 and PS4 players can step into The Ascent’s world on March 24. You can pre-order the RPEG 33 rocket launcher energy-type rocket launcher. This top-down shooter allows you to navigate a cyberpunk dystopia by yourself or along with up three others. There are many weapons and cybernetic capabilities, side quests, and RPG-style progression.

New goodies are also available for Steam users. The new Game+ feature allows players to replay the same game with their entire gear and stats. The enemy’s attacks have become more difficult and harder to hit, as well as the levels. You can also upgrade weapons beyond Mk.10. Cyber Warrior DLC Pack is available now for PC. It includes two weapons and three weapon skins. Seven pieces of armor are also included. A new tactical can be purchased for $4.99.

Ascent was 2021’s most stunning title. Although its gameplay and storytelling didn’t always hit the mark, it offered a respectable cooperative experience. In his review, GI video editor Alex Stadnik wrote, “The Ascent has issues, but those issues don’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the game. I won’t write my thesis on its commentary on capitalism, but I’ll fondly remember my co-op sessions where I tore through this cyberpunk world. However, I found the RPG’s shallow elements and lack of meaningful narrative to be a drag on the entire experience. Neon Giant has made a solid foundation to build on, and I hope we can see future installments grow into something truly worthy of ascension.”
