Thai Elden Ring commercial summarizes the game’s actual story
A family is looking for its fragments and the Elden Ring has broken. The Tarnished returns to bring them back together. This is the basic plot for both Elden RingA Thai advertisement for the game featuring a family fighting to claim a valuable heirloom.
In case you didn’t catch Elden Ring’s prelude, here’s how the two line up: The Lands Between were once united by Merika (that’s the grandmother) who ruled with the power of the Elden Ring. Her children, however, were bitter about the broken pieces and dragged the country into conflict and war. The lands remained at opposition until a Tarnished could return (that’s the son) to reunited the Lands Between.
While the commercial seems to be a family drama, it has a few more fun references. Elden Ring. These are especially obvious when we see what looks to be the family’s oldest son returning home from a trip or college.
As he travels back to his embattled family home, we see his childhood where he fought imaginary dragons, parried attacks from friends with a plastic shield, rode a cardboard horse named Torrent, and even prayed to the Erdtree in the family’s yard. This all happens before he ever arrives. His grandmother calls him Tarnished which makes the connection to the story literal.
This commercial ends with an even more recognisable trailer, which shows some Elden RingGameplay and a mention of the contributions made by Hidetaka Mizaki and George R.R. Martin.
