Ted Lasso And AFC Richmond Coming To FIFA 23
Apple TV Show Ted Lasso has proven to be one of the most popular and well-liked series of the last few years, introducing viewers to a lovable cast of characters whose lives and storylines largely revolve around the fictional English Premier League football club, AFC Richmond. Through its first two seasons, the series has taken home numerous awards, including the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022, with several of its actors – including Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, and Hannah Waddingham – taking home awards for original performances. Now, Ted Lasso reaches into a new realm: video games.
EA Sports has announced today that Ted Lasso, AFC Richmond and Roy Kent have joined the FIFA 23 team. Coach Beard joins Lasso on the sidelines, along with some of the biggest players in the league, including Roy Kent, Jamie Tartt and Sam Obisanya. EA Sports does not indicate if there will be any of their likenesses in the final product. It is possible that we might hear Roy Kent or Jamie Tartt’s signature crowd chants, but it would seem unlikely, considering how Roy Kent’s chant would likely bump the ESRB rating from M to Mature.
You can still play at AFC Richmond’s Nelson Road home field and take over Coach Lasso through Career Mode. AFC Richmond can also be played in Kick-Off and Online Friendlies. FIFA 23 Ultimate Team has added several AFC Richmond customizable items. These include kits, TIPOs and the ability to pick Ted Lasso (or Coach Beard) as your club’s manager. FUT content will all be available through challenges and objectives.
Below is the trailer that shows Ted Lasso as well as the AFC Richmond crew in action.
FIFA 23 is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Xbox One, PC and Stadia will be available on September 30,
