Techland Closes Out 7 Years Of Support With Dying Light: Definitive Edition, Out Tomorrow

Techland launched Dying Light in 2015 and the parkour-zombie game has been supported by the studio since then. Dying Light got a new-gen performance update and seven-year anniversary DLC, including free weapon skins.

Techland today announced that Dying Light support was ending. But, it wasn’t without a surprise. Techland has gathered all its support in Dying Light: The Definitive Edition, which will be available tomorrow.

A press release states that “Dying Light” has been an amazing journey and thanks to all who supported the game over the last seven years. We understand that the number of DLCs and updates for the game can be overwhelming for returning and new players. We want you not to miss any Dying Light-related experience. Dying Light: Definitive Edition is what we’re proud of.

Dying Light Definitive Edition is available for purchase starting tomorrow. It will offer a 70% discount. As a digital release, it will be accessible on all platforms. But, it will also be released on Switch as a digital and retail version. Techland describes this version as “the best way to enjoy the vast amount of content and passion we put into it over the past 7 long years.”

As a thank you to all who have supported the game, the studio has released one more free DLC: the Harran Tactical Unit Bundle. This will be available for just two weeks starting tomorrow. You will be automatically upgraded to the Definitive Edition if you own Dying Light’s Platinum Edition. This gives you access to five additional bundles at no extra cost.

Techland wrote a touching letter to its readers to complete today’s news. It’s here in its entirety:

“This is an historic moment in Dying Light’s history. It’s both a tribute to the 7-years of incredible love and support this game has received; it also marks the end of Harran’s adventures. We’ll see what the future holds. And don’t worry—we will keep a steady reroll of previous events for you to enjoy.

Again, the game brought back many wonderful memories. We are grateful to all of you. Yet, it feels like the time is right to let go and move onto new adventures in Villedor.

It’s yours,

#PeopleOfTechland”
