Talk to Me trailer shows off 2023’s scariest horror movie so far

It’s already been a pretty good year for horror movies, but nothing that’s come out so far is quite as good (or disturbing) as Talk to Me. On Tuesday, the first trailer was made for the movie ahead of its release on July 28th. It showed just a little of what this film has to offer.

The movie follows a group of teens who have a mysterious statue of a hand (supposedly a real one that’s been mummified) that can connect them with the spirits of the dead. The group uses it as a drug and lets spirits take control for a brief time, just like any other good teenager. One of the group lets a spirit stay a bit too long, and things quickly go south.

It’s an excellent premise that gives the movie room for plenty of room for scares and fun, and a few incredibly gory twists. All of that helps to already make it one of Polygon’s favorite movies of the year so far.

Talk to MeIt premiered at Sundance 2023 to great reviews, and quickly became available for purchase by A24. Danny Philippou (first-time feature filmmaker) and Sophie Wilde star in the movie.You Don’t Know Me), Alexandra Jensen (Joe vs. CaroleMiranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King).
