Is Studio Ghibli located in the middle of nowhere?

Ghibli’s park will be located in Aichi Commemorative Park, a location near Nagoya in central Japan. The park was the site of the 2005 World’s Fair, in which Studio Ghibli helped build a recreation of Satsuki and Mei’s house fromTotoro, My Neighbor.

What’s in the Studio Ghibli park?

The Ghibli Park will be split into five different lands. Some of these lands are based on certain movies, while others draw from multiple sources. The park is on a 200-hectare plot of land, which lends itself easily to the various sprawling, pastoral inspirations of Ghibli films (for context, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is around 50-hectares, while Animal Kingdom sits around 230). The park will have a focus on recreating the movie’s scenes and nature trails instead of thrills and rides.

Springtime of Life Hill, or Youth Hill: The area is based upon Howl’s Moving CastleThe area will also host a huge steampunk elevator that guests can use to see the entire land. The park’s entrance will be located in this area, which is said to have lots of 19th-century-inspired accents. You will find inspiration there. Whispers from the HeartThe movie features buildings that were inspired by an antique shop.

Dondoko Forest Area: It My Neighbor Totoro-inspired area will feature a replica of Mei and Satsuki’s house from the movie, in a lush rural landscape from the movie. This area will feature walking trails and pathways that take into consideration the local infrastructure.

Ghibli Large Warehouse Space: The large indoor area, featuring Japanese and Western-style architectures will house the shops, restaurants, playing areas and exhibition space. Here you will find a culinary area that was inspired by Take a Spirited Trip.

Mononoke’s Village Area:This site is dedicated to Princess MononokeThis area will be home to a reproduction of Irontown. It also evokes the Muromachi period (1333-1573), which inspired the movie. It’s also going to house giant sculptures of the movie’s spirits and creatures. This will be one of the new locations in 2023.

Witches’ Valley Area: Both inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service And Howl’s Moving Castle, this area will include a small amusement park, as well as a replica of Kiki’s parents’ house and Howl’s castle. The other new location will open in 2023.

When is the Ghibli park opening?

On November 1, 2022, the park will be open. On the opening day, three of five of the areas, Springtime of Life Hill and Ghibli Warehouse, will be accessible. The remaining two areas will open in 2023.
