Street Fighter 6 Reveals First Year DLC Characters

Street Fighter 6 has a similar ambitious content post-release plan to its predecessor. Although we already knew that downloadable content would be available, now we know the exact cadence in which characters will appear.

Shuhei Matsumoto, the executive producer for Street Fighter 6 Showcase said: “A large part of Street Fighter’s appeal is the diverse cast of characters that appears in each game.” Street Fighter, we believe, is the place where players are able to control unique characters who have their own fighting style. For the players – and for us as well – the appeal of the characters themselves is the most important element of the series. We’re working on new characters for Street Fighter 6 every year.”

Street Fighter 6’s roster will grow by four characters during Year 1, starting with its launch. During this first content year we’ll be able to play as Rashid, A.K.I. Ed and Akuma. Rashid will be available in Summer 2023. He debuted with the Street Fighter V base game. A.K.I. is a new character that will debut in 2023. Ed who made his debut in Street Fighter IV and was initially playable in Street Fighter V will be arriving in 2024. Akuma is the Great Demon from Super Street Fighter II Turbo who will be joining Street Fighter 6 Spring 2024. The characters in this story will appear as well in World Tour, a single-player, RPG-inspired mode. This gives players a glimpse into the character’s past.

The Year 1 Characters are included with the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions. Street Fighter 6 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, June 2. Visit our coverage hub to learn more about the game.
