Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin’s Job System Has New Additions And Old Favorites
Stranger of Paradise is Final Fantasy Origin. While this may seem like a strange twist for the series’ story, one staple of the franchise remains: the Job System.
The roles that you assign to each member of your party determine which abilities they use and what weapons they can use. Stranger of Paradise offers 27 different jobs, and three of these are completely new. You can find out more about these positions on the PlayStation Blog, as well as those exclusive to Stranger of Paradise.
Stranger of Paradise has three jobs that are unique: Tyrant, Void Knight and Breaker.
Breaker lets you use the Zantetsuken legendary sword, which is famously wielded in classic FF summon Odin. Square describes it as an easier playstyle but with big rewards.
Void Knight lets you counter enemy magic attacks by either absorbing them and turning them into MP, or turning your back on their casters.
The Tyrant augments your standard attacks with elements to destroy enemies who are susceptible to that element.
The other classes that have been revealed are Swordsman, Dark Knight, Black Mage and Sage. They function in the core as traditional old-school jobs, though they are more action-oriented. Sage allows you to quickly switch between black and white magic, allowing for fast spellcasting.
Visit the PlayStation Blog to find out more about each class. Stranger of Paradise is available March 18, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/S, PlayStation 4 Xbox One and PC. The latest Frank Sinatra trailer can be viewed here.
