Steam Deck Adds Dynamic Cloud Sync, Enables Seamless Save Transfers Across All Devices
Valve’s much-anticipated handheld device the Steam Deck is coming soon. Steam Deck, which is touted as a strong competitor to Nintendo Switch’s handheld device, boasts powerful technology including an AMD processor, an LCD screen and a dock that connects to keyboards, monitors, controllers, mice and keyboards. Moreover, Valve is adding a “Dynamic Cloud Sync” – a component that enables seamless save transfers.
According to EurogamerDynamic Cloud Sync allows players to access their favourite PC games on any device, without having to quit them. This is explained in more detail on the official blog:
We anticipate that Steam Deck users will often suspend the Steam Deck and not exit the game as with many other handheld gaming devices. If they choose to continue playing on Dynamic Cloud Sync (either a Steam Deck or a PC), all their progress will still be available.
Steam automatically saves any modifications to its saved games and uploads them to the cloud via Dynamic Cloud Sync before it enters sleep mode. The user can resume the game from any computer, laptop, or device. Steam also downloads any saved game changes automatically when the user returns to Steam Deck or wakes up.
You’ll get a prompt to quit the game if Dynamic Cloud Sync has been disabled in your Steam Deck. It’s best to keep it turned on, as it will save you time. It’s a great way to get back in the action at any moment, anywhere.
A press release from a long time ago explains what the Steam Deck can do.
Steam Deck is an all-in-one, portable computer that can do everything. Steam Deck has a unique processor that AMD developed together with it. It can run AAA AAA games and is similar to a laptop. Steam Deck will have your Steam library available for you to use whenever and wherever you like. Steam Deck is also an open PC, adding the ability to install any software or connect with any hardware.”
Steam Deck should be released in February 2022. You can learn more about PC games that you might want to download if you are one of those lucky people who have preordered your handheld.
