Star Wars Outlaws’ first gameplay revealed at Ubisoft Forward 2023

Star Wars OutlawsIt’s more than a trailer or the promise of a first-ever open-world Star Wars adventure game. Massive Entertainment, the developer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, revealed its first gameplay at Ubisoft’s Forward event on Monday. Star Wars Outlaws, showing what scoundrel Kay Vess and her fuzzy axolotl alien friend Nix will get up to as they attempt to pull off what Ubisoft calls “one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen.”

Massive’s creative director Julien Gerighty introduces 10 minutes gameplay. Star Wars OutlawsThe trailer teases a number of different criminal syndicates, the opportunities and risks for Kay and Nix, and how players can interact with Star Wars’ villains and scum: either through reputation or hard-earned credits.

Kay may also use a blaster to interact with Imperial and rival forces. Kay is seen in an intense gameplay sequence battling with Pike forces that appear to be raiding an abandoned Imperial base. She then beats her feet against a speederbike if things become too tense. From there, she meets up with her handsome droid partner ND-5 in Jaunta’s Hope to complete a deal with a Mon Cal named Danka… and a mysterious Imperial “friend.”

Kay’s deal goes off with few hitches, right until — in a giant “WANTED” warning screen pops up, and the Empire diverts an unusual amount of attention on our ambitious thief. Star Wars Outlaws appears to tick the boxes of what you’d want from being a Han Solo type: interplanetary escapes from Imperial heat, stealth missions on Star Destroyers, shooting a bunch of aliens trying to jack your stuff, and a furry, endearing sidekick.

Massive Entertainment was the first to announce what is now called Star Wars OutlawsIn 2021, the game will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X. It’s slated for release on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2024.
