Star Wars movies in three different timelines announced, with directors
Star Wars filmmakers James Mangold and Dave Filoni are currently working on three Star Wars movies that explore different times periods. The announcement was made by Kathleen Kennedy at the Star Wars Celebration 2023. Star Wars has seen a number of failures, but now there is a bright new day.
These three films will extend Star Wars’ timeline to the past and future, and also explore the conflict between the New Republic (and the rise of The First Order) from the sequel movies.
Mangold, currently working with Lucasfilm on this year’s Indiana Jones and Dial of DestinyDirector of the film will be, who also directed the movie about the emergence and first Jedi in a time period no less than 25.000 years prior to the events depicted in the original trilogy.
Filoni was the creator and co-creator many Star Wars animated shows. Mandalorian, will direct a “theatrical event” tying together stories from the shows the he and Jon Favreau created in a time of conflict between the New Republic and the rising force of the First Order.

Kennedy displayed an image that showed the expanded timeline, which led from Dawn of the Jedi through the Old Republic and High Republics, Fall of the Jedi Reign of Empire, Age of Rebellion to the New Jedi Order.
This trio is the latest Star Wars movie to be announced. Skywalkers are on the RiseNone of these films have been made. No mention was made of Taika Waititi’s supposedly in-development Star Wars film.
