Star Ocean: The Second Story Remake Announced

Star Ocean: The Second Story is getting an HD-2D overhaul that slaps the letter R at the end of the title, a nod to the fact that it’s a remake.

The game first launched for PlayStation in 1998 (1999 in the U.S.) and stars protagonists Claude, a human federation officer, and Rena, a mystically powered girl, who players choose to control in separate campaigns. It is a game that heavily relies on your decisions, because your choice will determine whether or not you can recruit any of the many allies along your journey. 

This enhanced remake includes a modernized version of the game’s real-time combat; players can now stun enemies with chain attacks. Party members can also lend a helping hand when not engaged in battle by using assist-style attacks.

Star Ocean the Second Story R is available for PlayStation 5 and Switch on November 2.
