Sony Vice President Fired After Getting Caught In Alleged Pedophile Sting

A senior executive at Sony was fired after being caught in an alleged pedophile sting video posted online. 

George Cacioppo worked for more than eight years as a senior vice-president of engineering at Sony, and was responsible for products like the PlayStation Store. This weekend saw the creation of a YouTube channel dedicated to amateur pedophiles. People v. PredsA video posted online by Sony accusing him of trying meet up with a fifteen-year-old boy. Sony later told the story after the video gained steam. CNETCacioppo was fired.

“We are aware of the situation and the employee in question has been terminated from employment,” Sony told CNETA statement was made on Sunday. 

CNETCacioppo was unable to be reached via LinkedIn. As of the writing of this article, neither the ex-vice president of engineering nor his resignation from Sony have been publicly discussed.

Cacioppo is seen in the video wearing a PlayStation 5 shirt as he’s being charged by People v. PredsHe was trying to find a way to get together with a 15-year old he met via Grindr. CNET says Cacioppo told the 15-year-old that his name was “Jeff” and that “Jeff” gave the teen an address for the two to meet and have sex. 

San Diego Police Department was awarded People v. Preds’Although there is evidence to support this, police have not released any public information. It’s still unclear if this will developer into a case, but regardless, Cacioppo is no longer a Sony employee.
