Sony Releases First Official Uncharted Movie Trailer And It Features An Iconic Drake’s Deception Action Sequence

Sony Pictures Entertainment and PlayStation have released the first official trailer for their upcoming Uncharted movie. You’ll find all of the action you would expect, but we wish there was more mustache.

The trailer shows what looks like Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake meeting Mark Wahlberg’s Victor “Sully” Sullivan for the first-time in a bar. It’s the same banter fans love about the Game franchise that makes an immediate appearance, with both leads chatting about their age and appearances.

The trailer focuses on how locations and treasures become lost to time as well as Drake’s inherent need to find said lost places/buried treasures … and so the escapades begin. This movie does not appear to directly follow Uncharted, but it may be reusing elements from several.

Drake finds two ships that look very pirate-like in an underground cavern. It is similar to the last act of Uncharted 4 – A Thief’s End. Next, we meet Sophia Taylor Ali’s Chloe Frazer who is one of Drake’s most romantic partners in the game. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will feature Chloe Frazer, but she doesn’t make an appearance in the series. The movie draws some inspiration from the first sequel.

In the back of the trailer, you will see a replay of Uncharted 3’s iconic desert plane sequence. We see Drake holding on tight to the cargo aboard a plane that is flying above vast deserts, just like in Uncharted 3.

We also hear Drake refer to his brother Samuel Drake in the trailer. Drake says that Sam gave him one more clue. We also see and hear Antonio Banderas’ as-of-yet-unannounced antagonist too.

Neil Druckmann, co-president at Naughty Dog (the studio behind Uncharted), released the trailer to celebrate its release. You wrote the letterFans.

“Today, we’re humbly and incredibly excited to show you the world premiere of the first official trailer for the much-anticipated Uncharted movie – starring Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and Antonio Banderas,” Druckmann writes. Naughty dog, Sony Pictures Entertainment, PlayStation Productions, & Sony Pictures Entertainment collaborated to capture the uncharted spirit, spectacle, heart, and humor (some of which you’ll recognize as well as some landmarks, music and relics).

Druckmann shared with Uncharted’s Director Ruber Fleischer that he made the movie “for both the hardcore gamer and the casual fan and that it will entertain both.”

Uncharted will only be available in cinemas from February 18th, 2022.

You can catch up on Uncharted before it’s released by purchasing Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection. It contains the first three Uncharted games. You can read our opinions on the series in Game Informer Uncharted series reviews. Uncharted 4 and Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End will be available on PlayStation 5 or PC starting in 2022. Legacy of Thieves: Uncharted too.
