Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Is The Highest Grossing Video Game Movie Of All Time In The US

Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is now the most successful video game movie of all time, at least by box office numbers, in the U.S. (although it’s easy to argue it’s also the best movie adaptation of a video game, too). 

Global box office earnings have now surpassed $331 million Sonic the Hedgehog 2,It is currently one of the most successful videogame movies ever. This record was actually set by the original video game movie. Sonic the HedgehogAccording to a press release, the movie held the record for earning $319.71million in box office sales in 2020. 

News Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is the highest-grossing video game movie of all time in the U.S. isn’t too surprising, especially considering it scored the best opening weekend for any video game movie ever, also taking that record from the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Stateside, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, has earned more than $150 million in theaters, according to the movie’s official Twitter, which used this impressive number to reveal that it’s the highest-grossing video game movie of all time in the U.S.

A press release stated that the film’s U.S. gross exceeded $148.97m and broke the record for highest-grossing game-based movie adaptation. It also earned $168.9 millions internationally, and reached $331.64 Million worldwide. This surpasses its predecessor.
