Sonic Origins Patch Fixes Tails’ Annoying Jumping In Sonic 2, Various Other Bugs

Sonic Origins was released on PC and consoles in June. It included a 4-pack of Sonic the Hedgehog classic games. While the bundle was praised for bringing Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD to modern platforms with various gameplay enhancements and other additions, it was also heavily criticized. Sega was criticized for a number of bugs and mislabeled titles, as well as insufficient stability, especially with the PC version. This week, Sega released that long-awaited patch, addressing those problems and more, hopefully stabilizing the compilation and making the overall experience more enjoyable.

The two biggest items this patch addresses include fixing issues with the game crashing and one of the most annoying bugs of the year: Tails falling behind in Sonic 2 and constantly jumping instead of respawning on the player – we can finally turn off mute when playing Sonic 2. Also, the patch addresses sound bugs, menu- and controller issues, mislabels at museums and data-saving problems. The launch base music, Ice Cap and Carnival Night’s replacement music, are still available.

All platforms can download the patch now. Sonic Origins was released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Switch and PC on 23 June. You can read our full review of the fast selection here.
