Slime Rancher 2: Getting Creative with Your New Home on Rainbow Island

Hello! We launched last week Slime Rancher 2(Game Preview), for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11 as well as with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), and have been overwhelmed by the reception as a record-shattering number of new ranchers joined Beatrix LeBeau and embarked for a new slime ranching adventure on Rainbow Island.

Beatrix discovers that Rainbow Island has a Conservatory, which she can use to start her slime ranching adventures. The Conservatory offers several extensions that you can purchase to increase your Plort production. These include the ability to create slime corrals and gardens, chicken coops, silos, as well as other useful tools. 

Expanding your Conservatory can also increase your work load. If your eyes always look toward the future, like mine, then you might want to think of more creative and unconventional ways that your Conservatory expansions could be used. This is perfectly normal, as it will allow you to enjoy your Conservatory expansions. Slime Rancher 2You can play at your own pace and in any way you like.

Here are some ways you can turn your Conservatory extensions into functional upgrades that require little upkeep. This will allow you to enjoy more of Rainbow Island’s remote reaches.

The Seaside Puddle Resort

By using all the pond plots available, you can transform Tidepools to a resort for Puddle Slimes. Puddle Slimes require little maintenance. You can also stop by the pool party anytime you want to gather a lot of Puddle Plorts. Make sure to have lots of Palm Tree Deco Gadgets for a great vacation experience.

The Ultimate Silo

Or use the high walls of the Gully and its wild chickens that you’ll always find there to create the ultimate food storage center. You can use any number of plots that you want for silos and allow all your chickens to roam freely. You can keep the chickens contained by the Gully’s naturally tall walls. Just be sure to decorate it with slime statues so the chickens feel like they’re living in a paradise where slimes exist but will never eat them.

Zen Garden

The Archway’s striking stone ruins and overall structured feel always make for an excellent zen garden. It is a great place to start fruit trees, as well as some decorative bonsais. I then return to my beautiful garden every time I want more. The gardens will grow forever if undisturbed and if I miss a yield or two it doesn’t matter because one must learn to let go.

But if you would instead like to redirect the cycle of life you could always install an incinerator and keep your fire slimes there — to gobble the ash from your unwanted fruit. The fiery glow of the incinerators makes for a great bonfire where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset among the large stone arches on the cliffside.

Garbage Town

If zen gardens aren’t your thing, consider the polar opposite with Garbage Town. Use the Den expansion’s natural darkness and walls to keep a hungry horde of Ringtail Slimes inside with no corrals, and no rules. Perhaps you plant a few plants and then take every vegetable, chicken or fruit into the cave. Maybe, don’t even look inside the chaos that will follow. And let’s be honest, Ringtail Slimes want it this way. 

You can maximize Plort production to ensure every slime species has been represented to dominate the Plort Market. Or you may prefer to take a laid-back approach that will allow you plenty of time to locate every Treasure Pod in every hidden corner and crevice.
