Silent Hill Ascension season pass pricing announced on premiere date

Konami and Genvid Entertainment’s interactive horror streaming series Silent Hill Ascension premieres Tuesday — on Halloween night — and for the next 16 weeks, viewers will decide the fates of its characters and influence Silent Hill canon through their choices. Tuesday’s premiere of Silent Hill AscensionIt will be about 45 minutes in length, and the normal episodes of 5-15 minute duration are shown nightly. Genvid will produce about 45-minutes of new content every week.

Silent Hill AscensionThe app itself is free for download and to use. Apps are available for free download from Google Play and the App Store. But viewers can purchase a season pass that will work similarly to many games’ battle passes. The season pass allows you to unlock in-game cosmetics such as character customization and stickers.

Cameo competitions will allow viewers to showcase their cosmetics. Ascension viewers’ in-app avatars have the opportunity to show up as extras and in speaking roles.

Genvid’s series will play out nightly, with new episodes premiering at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT. As episodes stream, viewers can vote in real time, spending what are called Influence Points, or IP (styled as ᚾᚹ in the app), to sway decisions. Jacob Navok is the CEO of Genvid. He says, “The more points you earn, your influence will be stronger.”

Navok states that Silent Hill Ascension won’t be pay-to-win; viewers can’t simply spend a bunch of money on IP to outvote their fellow Silent Hill fans. While IP is available to purchase and unlock through the Season Pass, you can also earn points for free. The game also features a branching storyline. Ascension has moments called Endurance Scenes, real-time QTEs that viewers can participate in to decide characters’ fate (and earn them IP).

Silent Hill AscensionAlso includes daily puzzles which will allow players to earn IP. Some of these puzzles are a rhythm puzzle where players strumming a guitar to Silent Hill’s Akira Yamaoka songs. Others include lockboxes and hash puzzles as well as a tile-puzzle game. They can be used to aid the characters in AscensionRestoring their Hope in-game meter will keep them playing.

Genvid offers a six-month content season pass, priced at $19.99. The six-month time frame includes the original sixteen-week interactive series and new games plus style replays with different outcomes. The initial season pass is available as part of a Founder’s Pack until Nov. 14, and that pack includes exclusive cosmetics.

Silent Hill Ascension can be streamed on Android and iOS devices, or through the series’ website, Ascension.com. Ascension will also stream as “packaged episodes,” factoring in viewers’ decisions, on a weekly basis through the Sony Pictures Core app, which is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Sony’s Bravia televisions, and select Xperia smartphones.
