Silent Hill 2 movie casts James Sunderland and Maria actors

Konami’s revival of the Silent Hill film franchise starts filming in April with original Silent HillDeadline reports that Christophe Gans, the movie’s director is now at the helm. And in a this-is-actually-happening update on the movie, which is titled Silent Hill: ReturnThe lead actors for James Sunderland, protagonist of the story and Mary (and Maria), have been revealed.

Deadline reports that Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, TreadstoneHannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw, The Purge TV series) will star respectively as James and “his one true love” — meaning Anderson would portray both James’ wife Mary Shepherd-Sunderland and her mysterious doppelganger Maria.

Silent Hill is back’s script closely follows the plot of the 2001 game Silent Hill 2,James gets a note from his deceased wife inviting him back to the town. He discovers Silent Hill is overtaken and engulfed by fog as he tries to find Mary. This game features the debut of Pyramid Head, who has since become a key character in the franchise despite being closely associated with James. Konami is currently rebuilding Silent Hill 2,Modern platforms developed by Bloober Team.

Gans was in charge of the 2006 original Silent Hill movie, which itself was a loose adaptation of Konami’s first game. The 2012 sequel was not his last. Silent Hill: Revelation.

Konami revealed a host of new projects for 2022 and confirmed a Silent Hill movie. The publisher’s lineup includes the aforementioned Silent Hill 2,A brand new entry called remake Silent Hill fAnnapurna Interactive collaborated to create a new website called Silent Hill: Townfall, and “a massively interactive live event” co-developed with Bad Robot, Silent Hill: Ascension.
