Shovel Knight spinoff Shovel Knight Dig gets release date on Switch, PC

Yacht Club Games has released Wednesday’s trailer Shovel Knight DigThe Spelunky-like spinoff to 2014’s Shovel KnightIt also revealed the release date of the game, which is September 23rd. You can see new footage from the game as it is being played, and YouTube celebrities Jirard Khalil and Arin Hanson appear in the trailer.

In 2019, Announced Shovel Knight DigThe Shovel Knight Universe is reimagined with side-scrolling hack and slash gameplay. It tells a new story featuring Drill Knight (and his savage digging team) as a new antagonist.

A twist on the original Shovel Knight formula, Shovel Knight DigIt centers around a brand new mechanic, where the protagonist uses his shovel to continue digging in new places. Shovel Knight DigUtilizes an exclusive generation method that stitches levels together based on existing assets from the original game to create new, more challenging areas.

The game is a collaboration between Yacht Club Games and Nitrome, the developer behind 2018’s Bomb Chicken.

Shovel Knight DigThe game will be available on iOS, Mac and Nintendo Switch. After its release, the game will be available as part of an Apple Arcade subscription.
