Shenmue is getting an anime series from Crunchyroll and Adult Swim

Crunchyroll has acquired an anime series based on Shenmue’s beloved action-adventure game from Sega. Chikara Saurai will direct the series.One Punch Manseason 2 with Ryo Hazuki as the lead role. Masaya Matsukaze voiced Ryo Hazuki’s leading role in Japanese. Shenmue AnimationPremiere will take place on Feb. 5, 2015 on Crunchyroll, and Adult Swim on Toonami North America.

It’s the “cult-hit” ShenmueIn 1999, the Dreamcast became their first home. Judging by what we’ve seen so far, the animation appears to be based on the original story of the games. A release states that the 13-episode new adaptation will follow Ryo Hazuki (a high school student and martial artist) as he searches for his father who was murdered.

Crunchyroll announced to Adult Swim that they would be collaborating in order to produce more anime outside of the US. Crunchyroll’s first anime season was released in 2020.
