Sharpening The Combat in Conan Exiles For The Age of War
Age of War is now here, after the Age of Sorcery. Conan Exiles. This update will be divided into 3 chapters. Each chapter brings new features, content and enhancements to the game.
Age of War Chapter One launched today. In addition to brand-new features for creating banners and collecting treasures, there are significant adjustments made to combat balance.
Stun and Stamina Changes
The designers make the games more fun by challenging you. The challenges can come in the form of any gameplay which blocks progress, such as a tough boss with loot that you desire or a wall climb up a steep hill with little resting spots. It’s better to feel a sense of victory when we get you close to tipping points, but you only barely manage to overcome the challenge. You might also hear game designers call this concept “risk and reward” or “squeeze and release” – it’s in every game you play!
We granted NPCs immunity from stuns for a short time a few year ago. This was because, when players were attacking multiple enemies, they never had a chance of acting, and would be stunlocked until death. It was meant to allow the enemy a shot at combat.
We are taking away this “stun break” system because it made combat feel inconsistent. Instead, we want to introduce “squeeze and release” naturally, and predictably.
The rules for stunned enemies will be enforced. The majority of enemies that you’ll encounter in this update are vulnerable to being stunned. Only high-level enemies will be immune. When you lose stamina, and are unable to dodge or attack any longer, you’ll be stunned.
Stamina has been rebalanced to allow for these turns of combat. We had to raise the cost of stamina in order to make short periods where an opponent can act while you are unable.
Don’t worry, it doesn’t mean you will never have stamina. Now, you will regenerate your stamina very quickly.
Invaders, Weapons, and Repairs
Our goal is to make you feel like you’re a savage warrior, capable of cutting off enemies’ heads and limbs. If you are fighting just a handful of opponents, it is important to have the skill necessary to block or evade enemy attacks. You should plan ahead for difficult situations.
In order to achieve this goal, we made the enemies do more damage. This means that if they manage an attack, it will be more dangerous. We have also reduced most enemy health, which will make battles faster and more exciting.
Weapons have undergone significant modifications. Every time you upgrade your weapon, such as from iron to stone or steel to iron, the power increase is more noticeable. There are also new, stronger items than what you can make! We introduce our brand new item category, unique items. Unique items look similar to those you’ve already made, but have an extra power spike.
Legendary Weapons are now the most powerful weapons in all of Warcraft. They have undoubtedly surpassed their epic counterparts and can be repaired.
Other items now lose maximum durability when being repaired and because items no longer last forever, there are new motivations for you to venture back into the world to acquire powerful items.
Age of War’s changes aim to improve combat and make it more exciting for all players. Chapter two and chapter three will also bring more changes. To name just a few – greatly improved loot, revamped purges and an all-new PvE siege where you attack an NPC stronghold.
