Sega delisting classic Sonic games in May ahead of Sonic Origins release
Is that the blue blur? That’s Sega, delisting some of its classic Sonic the Hedgehog titles from digital storefronts.
Tuesday’s announcement by the publisher stated that there would be four new games. Sonic OriginsOn May 20, collection will be taken off the Internet. People who wish to legally purchase these games after this date must mainly obtain them via Sonic Origins — and we say mostly because, as the publisher notes, there are a few Nintendo Switch-related exceptions.
Sega Ages improved ports Sonic And Sonic 2They will be sold on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and the versions of will also remain available. Sonic 2It is also playable using the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass. Unfortunately, all the other (very good) ports will vanish, like a Sonic fan’s hopes for a good game whenever a new title is released.
Sonic Origins arrives on consoles and PC on June 23 — a full month after the stand-alone version of its compiled games will be delisted.
