Ryu is super wide in the Street Fighter (SF6) 6 reveal trailer

Capcom revealed the new iteration in its fighting game series. Street Fighter 6It will be released on Monday. And while the trailer didn’t reveal all that much about the game, other than the fact that it would launch sometime in summer 2022, we did get a look at its mainstay character, Ryu. The martial artist is known for being muscular but the trailer showed a more broad and wide-bodied character. Fans have been creating memes and making jokes about this Ryu.

If you haven’t seen the trailer, Ryu squares off against another Street Fighter character, Luke, as a camera lingers on a hyper-realistic render of his body. After a focused shot that just shows Ryu’s sweaty toes wiggle, the trailer cuts to a new angle that showcases the fighter’s upper body in all his muscly glory. As we see, the character is more than just rippling muscles, he’s also just … stout. Ryu’s shoulders are wide and oblong, making him look like an open door.

Yesterday’s trailer was published, but fans have already responded to it by creating fan art mocking Ryu’s size.

One fan joked that Ryu could be a Yu-Gi-Oh! Exodia the Forbidden One is one example of such a card.

Throughout all of this, fans noticed that his shoulders aren’t the only, shall we say, big thing about him. It turns out that the fighter may have more than just giant shoulders. However, the tease was only a glimpse of the character. Fans will have to wait till the summer to find out how Ryu performs in the real game.
