River City Girls 2: Introducing Provie

How do I begin with Provie? One of the new characters that can be played in this game. River City Girls 2,? For those who are just beginning to explore the River CitySince the last series or by way of the first RCGThis is likely to be their first ever sighting of her in 2019. Provie, however, has been an important character in my life for eight years.

My name’s Bannon Rudis, and I designed and animated a video game a whole bunch of years ago called River City Ransom Underground. It seems like a lot of years ago. It feels like it has been forever. The majority of main characters that I played in the game were drawn from people I had known at the time. Provie was one of the characters. Provie is a good friend. She was also a coworker in the same restaurant we worked together in Los Angeles. Provie would likely punch me in the stomach at least 3 times per day, and then give me an endless supply of sass. Provie’s sass would make the planet a utopia if it could be turned into an energy source that is clean and sustainable. I was certain she would be joining my team. When I asked her about the type of fighting she preferred, she replied dancing. It was good enough for me. I had originally pushed for Muay Thai and was left with her Muay Thai foot and hand wraps.

Provie can use multiple breaks to win the fight. The player was able to use their creativity and make her fight style unique. Ironically, Provie would get motion sickness from anything stimulating, such as spinning, riding roller coasters or moving too fast. If you tried to use her spinning specials for too long, it could cause her projectile barf. That could be dangerous for your enemies.

Three years of intensive development on the game led to me being offered a position at WayForward. There were only two months to go before I was done. River City Ransom UndergroundAs an animator, I was also a director-in training at my new job. I was eventually asked to design their completely new take on the project. River City series, River City GirlsThis was a huge success. Huzzah!

It was time to get down to work River City Girls 2,We wanted to expand our cast of characters. To join the fight, we needed to add two girls. Marian and I were the two girls that I could picture in my head. Double DragonProvie and Provie River City Ransom Underground.

Arc System Works, the license holder, ok’d both characters and I got to designing. My main goal was to preserve Provie, but make her more modern for this new type of game. She would have a much easier time performing her moves and wouldn’t need as many steps as the previous version. She needed the controls to be easy enough to use for everyone to grab her and start dancing. However, players still need to have creative freedom. Underground. It was very easy for her to design. RCGThis series was possible because she had a strong, stable foundation. Many of her moves were carried over, and she felt at home.

As before, dance special attacks from her can be combined. Even better, she got an upgrade for a few of her moves. She can use her Coin Drop antiair attack to send her up at an angle, instead of straight up. You can also cancel this move into your air combos.

Flare’s spin kick attack, Flare Spin-Kick Attack is her best special move. It is perfect for any combination she has and it is also her most popular. This can be combined with any other specials. Once you get her spinning though, it’s hard to stop her, so don’t go thinking it’s spammable!

The great move Her Back Spin can be used to quickly get away from an inactive position. Provie can combine this move with ground enemies, while still allowing her to perform other dances.

One of my favorite songs is “Her Broken Propeller”. Provie can get an in-the-air boost which then turns into a deadly spinning attack. It’s great for enemies above her, in the air with her, or below her as she comes crashing down into a split-kick landing, which can knock fallen enemies back up into the air. You can even combine her with another Broken Propeller, and change the direction if you hold the opposite direction.

Spin Cycle, an area of attack special, is designed to open up some space for the players when they become surrounded. The move is different from other AOEs in that it will allow her to do another spin move while facing the opposite direction. It can be performed at the start of or during a combination. She is able to change her direction, continue dancing towards enemies and keep her routine going. This maneuver can also be used to cancel out her previous dance moves.

Provie allows for lots of creativity. I hope you have just as much fun creating the various Provie dance moves as I did. She is a wonderful person and I love the things we did for her. River City Girls 2,Because it bridges the gap between these various Kunio-Kuns in the Technos Universe. Please give her “a spin” when the game launches later this year!
