Three intelligent AI storytellers control in-game events. They simulate combat, trade, medicine and relationships. Over hundreds of hours, your colony will experience success, tragedy, drama and comedy.

Every storyteller is unique and has their own personality. Randy Random is the wildcard and will present you with unpredictable challenges; Cassandra Classic provides a balanced but tense experience, while Phoebe Chillax prefers to be relaxed for an increasing level of difficulty.

Three colonists might crash land on an unfamiliar planet. In the first playthrough, they will rebuild their home, balance their emotions, and survive.

Each one is not a professional settler and has its own skill sets. A motley group of farmers, hunters, accountants, or elite retired soldiers could end up in your colony. As your colony expands you will acquire more colonists — capture them from rival factions, take prisoners in combat or take in travelers from quests.

They will develop relationships with each other. They may become lovers, friends or rivals. The best cook and expert builder may be happily married — until one of them falls for the handsome hunter who saved them from a Thrumbo attack.

A random planet is generated for each game. Each planet has its own unique ecosystems, animals and fauna. Start your adventure by choosing where you want to place your crash pods.

You can form a caravan with people, prisoners, and animals to explore the globe in search for kidnapped coloniesists. Trade and participate in peace negotiations; fight your enemies; and accomplish quests. You’re not stuck in one place, you can even move your entire colony to a new place. You can explore the world faster if you do enough research.

You can fight off pirates, insane animals, large insects, or other ancient killer machines. RimWorld’s tactical combat engine kicks in. For a tactical advantage powered by, the Colonists use their environment to find cover. RimWorld’s cover system, intelligent algorithm and an advanced, stat-based weapon system to deliver a deep combat experience.

To protect your colony, you will need to create defensive structures and weapons from the resources that you have collected. Feel the pain of losing your colonist and vow to not let it happen again. You can train and house cute animals, farm animals, and strong beasts for your colony. You can trade with caravans of passing traders for valuable resources.

Assist injured colonists, provide medical attention and replace or augment them with futuristic bionics. Although they are slow, a wooden foot can be the difference between life or death in the face of an aggressive squirrel raid. But a futuristic bionic foot will make them run faster than the squirrels the next time.

These intricate systems combine to produce a deeply and unpredictable experience where all actions have consequences, and there is no guarantee!
