Rick and Morty has a Zelda: Breath of the Wild reference in its trailer

Hyrule may exist on the other side of the world. Rick and Morty multiverse. Adult Swim unveiled a new trailer on Monday for season seven of their animated show. Most notably, the trailer debuted the series’ new character casting sound-alikes, but it also hid an Easter egg: Rick and Morty go to a place that looks like it’s from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

The trailer shows Rick and Morty jumping from world to world using Rick’s portal gun. One of the clips shows the pair running away from the blue smoke toward a Temple. The two run under the stone door just as it is closing. On closer inspection, it appears that the façade of the building is eerily similar. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. It’s covered with glowing blue line designs that resemble the shrines in the game, and the top of the front door contains an eye that looks similar to the Sheikah eye.

The scene is from the trailer. This background is a labyrinth structure that also appears in Breath of Wild. Blue smoke is also visible, and could refer to the bombs Link throws in the game.

Zelda is shown here holding the Sheikah Slate. You can see that the eye is similar to the one shown on the door. The symbol for the eye is shown in Rick and Morty It even shows the triangles that are above the eyes.

Adult Swim has not officially confirmed the reference and it’s possible that the showrunners would dodge any reference that clearly calls out Zelda for legal reasons. Polygon reached out to Adult Swim to ask and a representative told Polygon, “we can’t confirm anything, but they’re free to speculate and readers can tune in to find out!”

The acronym The Legend of Zelda : Breath the Wild It feels like a good fit for this series. Rick and MortyThe show is full of pop-culture references and sarcastic remarks. It is the show that had an entire episode parodying a popular movie. Mad Max Fury Road And the tropes that are associated with heist film. Now, it’s possible the series will squeeze in some jokes about Link’s adventures in Hyrule.
