Puzzle Quest 3 Coming To PlayStation And Xbox Next Month

In February 2022, developer Infinity Plus Two and publisher 505 Games launched Puzzle Quest 3 onto Steam Early Access and mobile platforms. Just one year after its Early Access launch, Infinity Plus Two and publisher 505 Games launched Puzzle Quest 3. The studio now plans to expand the number of platforms on which the game is available.

Puzzle Quest 3 uses the same match-three, role-playing and puzzle-handling mechanics as previous games. There are also head-to-head battles in which enemies can use the puzzles created by their adversaries. The third installment introduced an adventure mode and a bigger puzzle board.

Its recognizable brand name has attracted some attention, however the Early Access version received mixed reactions. With nearly 400 user reviews on Steam, the reception currently sits at a “mixed” rating. Many of those reviews praise match-three puzzles and the storyline. Most players are critical of Puzzle Quest’s monetization model and its attempts to encourage players to pay money.

The reviews on mobile platforms iOS App Store and Google Play are decidedly higher, with each mobile version sitting at user-review scores of around four out of five, perhaps thanks to a higher tolerance of free-to-play mechanics on those platforms. Infinity Plus Two made significant improvements to this area since the launch of its Early Access version. This was due to an overhaul in the economy that simplified resource requirements. The developer promises it will keep making progress based upon fan feedback.

Infinity Plus Two creative leader Steve Fawkner, CEO of Infinity Plus Two said that they have been receiving a lot of feedback. The feedback from fans has been extremely valuable, especially during our first year on the market. It was a hard-working team that worked on the roadmap. New features were added, updates were made, and the game delivered a truly unique experience. However, it kept true to Puzzle Quest’s roots of puzzle combat.

It remains to be seen just how much Infinity Plus Two has learned from the Early Access period on Steam, but we will find out if the console versions carry those criticized detractions when Puzzle Quest 3 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 18. You can still play it on any platform.
