PS5 and PS4 system software beta launches on Wednesday

Sony revealed Tuesday that the next PlayStation system update will allow PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users more control over group chats. This includes the ability to create private chats and a host of other accessibility and quality-of-life features. Beta versions of the new features will launch on Wednesday.
A post by the PlayStation Blog explains that the new changes allow for group chats on PS4 or PS5 to have an option of being either open or closed parties. An open party allows the host’s friends to see and join the party without being invited, and also allows the friends of party members to join, too. Only invited people can join a closed party.
With the update to the system, voice commands that the PlayStation 4 had ever since launch will also be available for the PS5. Beta also includes new accessibility features such as mono audio for headphones and Screen Reader text support. PS5 users will also get voice chat reporting, a refreshed user interface in the home screen and the trophy tracker.
This isn’t an exhaustive list of all the changes; loads more are coming, many of them much smaller, when the beta starts Feb. 9. You can find more information at the PlayStation Blog.
