Prepare for Battle: Mortal Kombat 1 and New Kameo Fighters Explained

Hello! Tyler Lansdown is the Community Manager for NetherRealm Studio. Now that you’ve seen the gameplay trailer at Summer Game Fest (if you haven’t… GO DO THAT NOW! I’ll wait.), let’s dive deep and find out more about the fighting systems in Mortal Kombat 1.. 

The game is a free download. this exciting new iteration of the Mortal Kombat Universe, we wanted to give our players a new level of player expression… enter Kameo Fighters. In Mortal Kombat 1.Kameos is a roster of unique partner characters who assist the main fighter in matches. Kameos are a unique roster of partner characters that assist your main fighter during matches. They provide an arsenal with additional Special Moves as well as throwing and breaking their teammates. Kameos also feature their Fatality and are one-half of the deadly Fatal Blows.  

Each Kameo Fighting is unique and brings different strength to the battle. Maybe your favorite roster character has excellent offense but isn’t as strong on defense – you could use Kameo Kano to shore up defense by using his knives and the threat of Kano ball as a keep-out tool. Choose a Kameo that will enhance your skills.  

Perhaps you love flashy, kombos? You can use Kameo Sonya blade to extend your air kombos or access ground kombos using square wave. If you enjoy mind games and traps then Jax is the character for you. Use his ground pounding to get action, followed by air grabs to stop any jump-in attempts. The choice of which Kameo to pair with is up to the player. Our players are going to create some amazing fighter-Kameo combos.  

But it’s not just Kameos that drive the fight forward. You can show off your abilities on both the ground and the sky! Show off your skills on the ground and in the air! Mortal Kombat 1.The air kombos return! You can start a high damage kombo by kicking your opponent to the earth. Or continue the kombo from there – it’s up to you. You can fight.
