Three New Civilizations

The Bengalis

image of the Bengali civ

You will navigate through the dense jungles and winding rivers of Bengal while you develop a strong economy to support unstoppable elephant armies. Ratha is an uncommon unit in Bengali that can be switched between melee attack and ranged attacks modes.

Bengalis place a high priority on the elephants and navy units. The technology tree of the Bengali elephants is stronger than other civilizations. They are also more resilient to anti-elephant bonus injury. Researching the technology Paiks can increase attack speed, which in turn improves Rathas. Being able to replenish hitpoints is a great way for Bengali ships to increase their lifespan. This is possible because of the strength of an economy.

When each Age is reached in Bengali Town centers, additional Villagers are automatically born. In addition, the Bengalis have the ability to sustain a greater economy by researching Mahayana technology, which decreases the space each Villager occupies. Finally, the Bengali and its allies can generate food out of the gold they have accumulated on their trips to/from allied markets.

Naval Civilization and Elephant Civilization

BONUSES FOR CIVILIZATION

  • Units of elephant get 25% more bonus damage, and they are less susceptible to conversion.
  • Two Villagers are born from Town Centers once the next Age has been reached.
  • Ships regenerate 15 HP per minute.

UNIT, BUILDINGS AND TECHNOLOGIES UNIQUE

Unique Units

  • Ratha – Bengali unique chariot that can switch between melee and ranged attacks. Strong vs. infantry. Weak against Camel Riders and Skirmishers
  • Armored Elephant – Anti-building cavalry unit. Resistant against most ranged attack. Weak against melee troops. It is impossible to convert enemy Monks distantly.
  • Unique Techs

  • Paiks, which are rathas or elephant units that attack 20 percent faster than others,
  • Mahayana (Villagers use 10% less space for their population)
  • Group BonusIn addition to the gold, trade units produce 10% of food

Dravidians

image of the dravidian civ in game

You can take over the lucrative Indian Ocean trading routes, and use advanced metallurgy to build the richest sea empire in the history of medieval Asia. One of the Dravidian’s unique units is the Urumi Swordsman. This warrior uses a sharp flexible sword to protect his body. The Thirisadai is a huge vessel that commands the high seas.

Dravidians are focused on naval and infantry units. Cheaper Barracks technologies, a strong technology tree, the devastating Urumi Swordsman unique unit, and the unique technology Wootz Steel — which causes infantry and cavalry attacks to ignore the armor of enemy units — make Dravidian infantry among the most formidable in the game. Dravidians are able to access powerful Thirisadai and have increased naval power due to their ability to carry more Fishing Ships and Fishermen and because their Docks and those belonging to their allies offer additional population.

Another trademark of the Dravidians is their versatility. The Dravidians get 200 more wood when they reach the next Age. This can then be used for a wide variety of purposes and strategies. The speed of their Skirmishers, Elephant Archers and Archers makes them more efficient in combat. The unique technology Medical Corps will allow them to regenerate hit point, increasing their longevity.

The Naval Civilization and Infantry

CIVILIZATION BONUSES

  • Get +200 Wood when you advance to the next age
  • Fishing Ships and fishermen carry +15
  • Cost of barracks technology: -50%
  • Skirmishers, Elephant Archers are 25% more efficient.

UNIT, BUILDINGS AND TECHNOLOGIES UNIQUE

Unique Units

  • Urumi Swordsman – Dravidian unique infantry unit which can charge its attack. It is strong against buildings and infantry. At long distance, archers are weak.
  • Armored Elephant – Anti-building cavalry unit. Resistant against most ranged attack. Weak against melee troops. Cannot be converted from the distance by enemy Monks.
  • Thirisadai – Dravidian unique warship that fires multiple projectiles. Strong vs. warships.
  • Unique Techs

    • The Medical Corps (Elephant units that regenerate 20 HP per Minute)
    • Wootz Steel
    • Group BonusThe Docks offer +5 Population Room as a Team Bonus

Gurjaras

image of the gurjara civ in game

Your enemies will be frightened by your speedy mounts as you ride across fertile plains and fields in western India. One of the Gurjara’s most unique units is the Shrivamsha Rider which can avoid enemy attacks and the Chakram Thrower which unleashes deadly metal discs.

Gurjaras can start the game as a Camel Scout rather than a Scout Cavalry. Their mounted units deal additional bonus damage against the enemy units that they counter, while their camelry and elephants — and those of their teammates — also train faster. Once the Frontier Guards technology is discovered, Gurjara’s camelry will also receive additional armor.

A variety of economic benefits are available to the Gurjaras. The Gurjaras start the game with 2 additional Forage Bushes close to their Town Center. They can also garrison livestock in Mills to slow but surely generate food, instead of having them slaughtered with Villagers. Gurjara Docks may be garrisoned with Fishing Ships. This allows them and their allies to seek refuge from enemy attacks. Researching the Kshatriyas unique technology makes it cheaper to feed all military units. This allows them to be mass-produced more easily.

Babur

image of hindustani king sitting on a throne

Nearly a century after Tamerlane’s death, his descendants are still fighting for supremacy in Transoxiana and Persia. The youngest among them is Zahir ud-Din Muhammad – also known as Babur, ‘the tiger’. Although he hopes to restore the empire that was destroyed, another invasion of horsesmen from the north steppes will change all of this. You will be playing as both the Tatars or Hindustanis in this campaign.

Rajendra

father who is the king walking with his son through the jungle

Rajendra Chola, an ambitious man who lives in the harsh political climates of South India, is constantly worried about the possibility of corruption. Will Rajendra be able to escape the moral decay that comes with expanding the empire he inherits from his father or will his fear of corruption become his true enemy? You will be playing as Dravidians in this campaign.

Devapala

battle elephants in line

Devapala is guided by Mahayana Buddhism’s teachings and leads a vibrant, rich empire. As dangerous rivals challenge his kingdom, Devapala finds it more difficult to keep his policies in line with his morals. Will the ends ultimately justify the means, or will Devapala’s quest for his own enlightenment and that of his subjects fail? This campaign will see you play the Bengalis.

Hindustanis (Previously Indians)

image of the hindustani civ in game

Stake your claim to populous, diverse lands and lucrative trade routes as you parry foreign invasions – or step into the invader’s shoes yourself. Ghulam is a highly armored infantry unit that can defeat mass archers. The Imperial Camel Rider is a unique upgrade to the Heavy Camel Rider.

Hindustanis are known for their camelry and gunpowder unit. They are more agile than other civilisations in their attacks and do additional damage to buildings. Their gunpowder units, on the other hand, are better armored. Research by the Hindustanis on the Shatagni technology increases the number of Hand Cannoneers.

They also enjoy a strong economy. The Villagers of the Hindustanis are cheaper than other civilisations and their unique technology Grand Trunk Road increases all gold income sources. The Caravanserai can be built, which increases trade speed and heals the area.

You can play this civ without purchasing India’s Dynasties.
