Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Samurott 7-star raid — best counters

Samurott, the water-type Pokémon from Unova, is making its Pokémon Scarlet And Violet debut in seven-star Tera Raids. It is a bug Tera TypeHowever, it only allows for some stable counters.

Samurott is only available in raids with the Bug Tera Type or Mightiest Mark Between March 30th at 8 PM ET and April 2nd at 7:59 P.M EDT And April 6 at 8 p.m. EDT until April 9 at 7:59 p.m. EDT.

Samurott Tera Raid rewards

Upon defeating Samurott, you’ll be able to catch one, but only one. You can only capture one Samurott after you have captured it. You’ll also get TM88A guaranteed swords dance Ability PatchFor your first victory.

It is equipped with the Hidden Ability Shell Armor which makes it immune to attacks. The caught Samurott also has the Mightiest Mark, just like the Pokémon from earlier seven-star raids. Also, it has perfect IVs.

You can also get other Tera Raids drops like Exp. You can also get Tera Shards and Bottle Caps as well as candy, Tera Shards and other treasure items that you can sell to make money. Serebii.net offers a drop-table. Samurott raids do not drop Herba Mystica.

Samurott Tera Raid best counters

Samurott is level 100 and has the bug Tera Type. It can learn Aqua Cutter (Megahorn), Night Slash (Drill Run) and Focus Energy (Swords Dance) and Bulldoze. It is primarily a physical attacker because of these moves. Focus Energy will be used to start the fight, increasing its critical hit rate.

Remember that your Pokémon should be level 100 when bringing them into seven-star raids. You may be able to get away with not perfectly EV or IV training them, but it’s recommended that you do for easier knockouts.

You can take out Samurott with many builds, but we’ve listed the ones that we personally used or partnered up with to do so.

Samurott Annihilape solo Tera Raid build

  • Nature: Adamant
  • Ability: Vital Spirit (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • Tera Type: Ghost (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Defense
  • IVs: Maxed HP, Attack, Defense
  • Holding item Shell Bell
  • Moveset: Screech and Rage Fist

An Annihilape that we found on the roadside was used to boost its IVs but it wasn’t bothering with EV-training. However, it was able we to. Samurott alone with three NPCs. Here’s what we did:

  1. Use Screech twice to lower Samurott’s attack, before it puts up its Tera shield. While its shield is down, Screech does not affect Samurott.
  2. Spam Rage Fist until it dies.
  3. Screech can be used twice more if Samurott has cleared its debuffs, and the shield is gone.

Rage Fist is stronger the more Annihilapes have been hit. You can also Terastallize if you have a ghost Tera Type to help deal more damage, but it may make you more susceptible to Samurott’s Night Slash. (Ours was fighting Tera Type, so we didn’t bother, but we still cleared the raid.)

Your Annihilape may die once or twice during this, alongside the NPC Pokémon, but don’t fret too much. Annihilape will keep the Rage Fist stacks even after it faints and comes back, so it’ll remain very strong.

It’s entirely possible that we got lucky with our NPCs (who were using Sylveon, Drifblim, and Haxorus), so you might get unlucky and roll some less useful Pokémon. We are currently unable to run this test in multiple runs as we only have one 7-star Teraraid per day.

Note that using this strategy can be viable in multiplayer online raids, but it’s significantly harder — it really relies on your teammates bringing in Pokémon that won’t activate Samurott’s shield after one turn. Screech is possible if the Pokemon has been shield-free for 2 turns.

Samurott Koraidon attacker Tera Raid build

  • Nature: Adamant
  • Ability: Orichalcum Pulse
  • Tera Type: Fighting
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Attack/4 Defense
  • IVs: Maxed HP, Attack, Defense
  • Holding itemThe Life Orb
  • Moveset: Swords Dance, Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Drain Punch
  • You can also try these other moves Screech, Fire Fang

Reddit’s build. We are not recommending this build. There are many Koraidon being brought in and people using the wrong tactics. Flare Blitz is dangerous. It can cause severe recoil damage and kill your Koraidon, which will waste valuable time.

This is a great idea for multiplayer. Only if your teammates are bringing in lots of Screech-using Pokémon. It could be Annihilape or Corviknight or another Screech user.

Reddit’s strategy has all three supporters using Screech in turn 1. Koraidon, however, uses Swords Dance. The support teams use attack cheers on turn 2, while Koraidon uses Flare Blitz in order to hit KO Samurott. If you don’t OHKO it, spam Flame Charge in the following turns, while keeping your health up with Drain Punch.

It’s extremely important that you allow the Screech-using Pokémon to set up without doing damage. Samurott will replace its shield if it is too damaged.

We did see players bring in Koraidon with Fire Fang and Screech instead, allowing them to debuff Samurott on their own before unleashing strong attacks that won’t simultaneously kill their Koraidon.

Samurott Corviknight support Tera Raid build

  • Nature: Relaxed
  • Ability: Mirror Armor (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • Tera Type: Flying (but it doesn’t really matter)
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Defense/4 Attack
  • IVs: Maxed HP, Attack, Defense
  • Holding item Zoom Lens
  • Moveset: Screech and Taunt Drill Peck Roost

It is done via Reddit’s strategy, which serves as good support for all. The official strategy that Koraidon can use is described in the section above. Use Screech until Samurott’s attack can’t be lowered any further, and then just spam Drill Peck, throwing in a Roost whenever your HP gets low. To boost your party’s HP, you can use cheers.

Corviknight is our support recommendation, just because it’s immune to Samurott’s ground-type moves and it can assist with bits of damage between debuffs.
