Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Cinderace 7-star Tera Raid guide

Cinderace This is the target for the second seven star Tera Raid event Pokémon Scarlet Violet, and it’s a bit harder to take down than Charizard was. Cinderace can hit very hard, and has many moves that exploit weakness.

Cinderace will be in raids starting Jan. 12, at 7:59 PM EST, and ending Jan. 15, at 6:59 PM EST.

Cinderace Tera Raid rewards

Upon defeating Cinderace, you’ll be able to catch one, but only one. You can only catch one after you have captured your first, and you cannot capture any other, even if it is defeated again. You’ll also get TM64You can get a guarantee (Bulk Up). Ability patchFor your first victory.

Cinderace is caught and has it’s Hidden Ability, LiberoThe enables the user to change its typing once per switch-in. (Libero does not activate if the Pokémon is Terastallized, so you don’t have to worry about it in this raid.) The package also includes the Mightiest MarkIt is identical to the Charizard from previous raids. You can also get perfect IVs.

Similar to Tera Raids before, there are other drop options, such as Exp. You can also get Tera Shards and Bottle Caps as well as candy, Tera Shards and other treasure items that you can sell to make money. Serebii.net offers a drop-table. Cinderace raids do not drop Herba Mystica.

Cinderace Tera Raid counter builds

There are two common builds you’ll see in Cinderace raids: Espathra Slowbro. These successful builds work well and players can even solo Cinderace by themselves without the need for online allies. We’ll explain how to mimic these builds and how they work.

Cinderace has a level 100 fighting Tera Type. It is proficient in High Jump Kick, Pyro ball, Acrobatics and Iron Head. Bulk Up makes it extra dangerous, as it’ll power up its attack a ton before attempting to nuke your Pokémon. It’s important to either lower its stats back down or to beef up your Pokémon defensively.

It is possible to Can still use your Azumarill The one that everyone makes with Belly Drum, Play Rough and Cinderace. Your mileage might vary. You need luck and/or a reliable support Pokémon; when we used our Azumarill, we were unable to Belly Drum successfully without risking fainting. Without proper support, Cinderace can smash like a brick.

Azumarill I would not recommend. You’re better off cheesing the raid with the two builds we list below:

Cinderace Tera Raid Slowbro build

  • Nature: Modest
  • Ability: doesn’t matter
  • Tera Type:Psychic
  • EVs: 4 HP/252 Defense/252 Special Attack
  • IVs: Maxed HP, Defense, Special Attack
  • This item is currently in storageTwisted Spoon or Life Orb
  • Moveset: The Stored Power, Iron Defense and Nasty Plan (TM41) are all available.

With your level 100 Slowbro, you can one-shot Cinderace — as long as it doesn’t have its shield up. Use Iron Defense twice, Nasty Plot twice, a “Go all out!” cheer once, and wrap up with Stored Power to defeat the Cinderace.

Stored Power does more damage the more your stats are increased, so after beefing up your Defense and Special Attack, you’ll be able to take out the Cinderace quickly while withstanding its attacks.

If Cinderace debuffs your Pokémon, you will need to start this process again, sadly.

To defeat Cinderace, we used the Slowbro strategy.

Cinderace Tera Raid Espathra build

  • Nature: Modest
  • Ability: Opportunist
  • Tera Type:Psychic
  • EVs: 252 HP/252 Defense/4 Special Attack
  • IVs: Maxed HP, Defense, Special Attack
  • Holding itemShell or Light Clay Bell
  • Moveset:Lumina Crashes, Reflect (TM74), Feather dance, Roost, (egg move).

To make this build work, you need to spam Feather Dance in the beginning of the fight to keep Cinderace’s ever-growing Attack down. If Cinderace is able to shield itself, you can use Feather Dance instead. Lumina Crash also contains Roost, which will help your body heal. Terastallize will make Lumina Crash stronger. Remember to also using healing chants if your and/or your teammates’ HP is getting too low.

The key here is Opportunist, Espathra’s ability, which will match its stat growth based on Cinderace. If Cinderace keeps using Bulk Up, then Espathra’s Attack and Defense will also rise.

This Espathra was not tested by us, however, it had been seen many times during raids which we were able successfully clear.

There are many other builds that players have had success with, which is documented in the Reddit thread. However, these builds have proven to be successful.
