Pokémon-like game Palworld gets another bananas trailer
It’s a dog-eat-dog world. Or at least, that’s the idea we get from the latest and completely bananas trailer for the Pokémon-like RPG Palworld.
In case you didn’t catch it the first time around, Palworld is like if you gave Pokémon a gun (and then some). PocketPair’s open-world survival games takes cute monsters and completely reinvents the world around them. These creatures are called Pals and can be exploited as well as eaten. As the monsters used guns to battle each other, the trailer was quite bizarre. Now, a new trailer shared by the developers on Friday shows that they won’t shy away from that original chaos.
The trailer begins relatively ordinary. You see the Pals living in harmony with people — they help out with chores like gardening. You can ride larger Pals as you would in some Pokémon games. It looks like, you know, normal stuff you’d expect in an RPG like this. But just stick around for a little bit longer and you won’t be disappointed. As we witness Pals being forced to work in factories and subjected to testing, the bright cheerful tone shifts quickly. A Pal fell to the floor on one of these assembly lines. It is common to see Pals eating other Pals. This is the main point.
Then, what should one do? Take up arms. These pastel-colored monsters aren’t going anywhere, and seem like they will blaze into the fight with you — armed with machine guns and all. One scene shows a huge creature that looks very similar to Totoro, wielding an enormous six-barrel weapon. The trailer’s weirdness was somehow matched by the developers.
Palworldwill be available in the coming year.
