What Community Day moves do Poliwag’s evolutions learn?

Poliwag has two evolutions at the end: Poliwrath, and Politoed. You can teach them special moves if you do it between 2 pm and 10 pm in local time. The fast attack Counter is available when you evolve Poliwhirl to Poliwrath, which only requires 100 Poliwag Candy. Evolving Poliwhirl into Politoed (which costs 100 Poliwag Candy and a King’s Rock) will give it the charged attack Ice Beam.

You can evolve the move during Community Day Weekend in December if you missed it. This will give you Counter or Ice Beam. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the move.

What is the performance of the Poliwag Family in Meta?

Poliwrath should be considered a monster in PvP when used with Counters, Scalds, and Ice Punch. It will have a great amount of coverage, as well as a charge bar that is fast. All of this is great since the Poli family are not used for PvE.

It is important to note that you can put some eggs into an Incubator, pop some Incense or try and capture a powerful Poliwag.

If you can Mega Evolve Blastoise, Slowbro, Gyarados, or Swampert, you’ll score additional Poliwag Candy per catch.

Niantic still runs four-star special raids between 5 and 10 p.m. If you successfully complete the Poliwhirl Raid, Poliwags will spawn for a 30-minute period in a radius of 300 meters surrounding the gym. The raids are not possible remotely. If the usual 2-5 p.m. spawn increase doesn’t get you the Poliwag you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance.
