PlayStation 5 Update Adds Discord Voice Chat Today

Today’s firmware update for the PlayStation 5 will include Discord voice chat and other requested features.

This update lets users link their Discord accounts and PSN accounts so they can chat with each other through the app. Xbox received the same support last summer, so we’re happy to see it appear on another major platform. The PlayStation Blog has more information about Discord. 

Variable refresh rate support is now available for 1440p. This will allow for smoother visuals with VRR compatible HDMI 2.1 displays of 1440p resolution. Now, the game library filters PSVR games and PSVR 2. Data transfer between different PS5 consoles has also been added, and PS4-to-PS5 save data transfer has been significantly streamlined.
