Pikmin 4 Has Night Expeditions, Glow Pikmin, And A Demo Out Next Week
Pikmin 4 will be released soon, but Nintendo didn’t hold back on revealing new details about it during the Nintendo Direct today. Pikmin 4 is releasing a demo next week and includes a new area underground, night explorations and a new game.
The main draw in the newest game in the Pikmin series is Oatchi, a dog-like companion that assists you and your Pikmin as you try to survive the cute and hostile alien world. Along with helping to lift and push items, your Pikmin and you can also ride him on land or water. As he ages, you’ll be able upgrade his skills, increasing damage he deals, how many Pikmins he can hold, and the weight of the objects he is able to push.
Pikmin 4’s newly added underground levels, where the focus seems to be on puzzles based around gadgets, will require you to have upgraded skills. The underground areas are less accessible than those above ground, and contain more enemies.
Pikmin 4 is the first game in which your character can go on nighttime adventures. Glow Pikmin will help you to defeat the wild animals that are on a rampage, which makes them more dangerous. Instead of throwing them one by one, you can focus them into one glowing energy ball to release all at once, doing huge amounts of damage.
If you want to try it for yourself, a demo for Pikmin 4 will be available on the Nintendo eShop on June 28. The full game will be released one month from today, on July 21. For more on the game, check out the recent trailer that reveals you can customize your explorer, or download Pikmin 1 and 2 on your Switch right now.
