Pikmin 4 beginners guide: 9 things to know before starting Pikmin 4
Pikmin 4,It’s the micromanagement game you know and love with some exciting new features, such as the Ice Pikmins, Oatchi and the expansive cave system.
It’s the same gameplay as before. You’re tasked with rescuing some folks stranded on a mysterious planet; you do so with the help of PikminPikmin are obedient creatures that you can throw around and command them to carry things. Pikmin are able to take pellets and enemies back to the source. OnionGrowing up You can find out more about us by clicking here.Pikmin and your treasure ship will unlock new areas for exploration.
This Nintendo IP is beloved for a reason, so if this is your first Pikmin game (or maybe it’s just been a while since you’ve played one), we have a bunch of tips to help you navigate Pikmin 4, below.
Don’t forget about Oatchi
Oatchi (the cute dog) is the main big addition to the game (next to Ice and Glow Pikmin) and he’s absolutely not to be forgotten. The majority of time you’ll want to ride Oatchi in order to keep a crowd of Pikmin from following you.
Oatchi also has the ability to find treasures and swim in water. He can knock objects off high places, as well as carry a lot of weight. Oatchi’s max upgrade allows him to carry up 100 Pikmin, which means he is able to carry nearly every item.
It’s easy early on to forget about Oatchi and dive back into older Pikmin habits (despite all the tutorial), so don’t forget about your adorable orange friend.
There’s no need to rush in caves — or at all, to be honest
Time passes significantly slower in caves, and the day won’t end while you’re inside one. You can take your time to work through the caves. When you leave the cave, your Pikmin will all be with you, so you don’t have to worry about any dying, even if you emerge from the cave at the end of the day.
That said, there isn’t a day limit in the main campaign of Pikmin 4,You can play at your own pace. Explore everything for as many days you like.
Remember ‘dandori:’ always be doing something
Pikmin need to be working at all times, whether it’s on the regular stage or in caves. Whether it’s taking out a baddy, or carrying simple pellets back to the ship to make more Pikmin, keep them working.
The dandori is a battle where both sides are fighting. You can also find out more about us on our website. To pass, you must keep Pikmin always collecting.

Pikmins are not all created equal (especially in the early days).
Pikmin 4,The game features the same Pikmin as previous versions, but also two brand new Pikmin types: Glow and Ice.
The White, Purple Rock, Pink and Ice Pikmin, however, are early-game luxuries. While you will find Onions for these Pikmin, they won’t show up for a while, meaning your only way to harvest these Pikmin is via Candypop Bud in the caves. You can re-enter caves just to nab more special Pikmin, but since that’s a pain in the butt, make sure you protect these special types as much as possible.
Before collecting items, clear a path.
Enemies are everywhere: in the air, underground, on a cliff that’s just out of your vision. These enemies can be a threat to your Pikmin and Oatchi. You should use all your Pikmin and wipe out any enemies you come across before you let them go to the treasure.
Pikmin will take the shortest paths back to your ship, so sometimes they may cross enemies that you didn’t notice and then… they’ll die! Sad! That said, enemies on the regular stage maps do not respawn at all, so once you beat down a bad guy, it’s gone for good. Caves have enemies that respawn after you complete them and return.
Do not limit yourself to your crew members. Talk with everyone in the base camp.
As you rescue more and more people, make sure to chat with them twice — once to introduce yourself, and another time to start any side quests they might give out. Completing these side quests isn’t mandatory, but they do reward you with currency for doing things you’re probably already doing, like growing Pikmin, finding Onions, and taking down enemies, so you might as well get that money.

If in doubt, toss Pikmin
Did Oatchi take you to a treasure spot and there’s nothing there? Toss your Pikmin to the ground. You are fighting an enemy. Toss all of your Pikmin at that enemy. Does a box seem to be out of reach for you? Toss your pink and yellow Pikmin. All the time, throw your Pikmin.
Don’t get attached
Pikmin Games are all about never getting attached to the Pikmin. Many hundreds, if no thousands, of them will die in your gameplay. A boulder can sometimes roll down a slope and smash 30 at once. Sometimes a foe will take one and carry it out of view. This is an unfortunate part of gaming, and it’s always distressing.
That all said…
It is possible to rewind your time.
The Newest Way to Get Around Pikmin 4,If you wish, you can rewind the time in order to save your Pikmin. Good news if you are blindsided by an enormous Bulborb who rolled 60 of your Pikmin all at once. Just rewind that cave and you’ll have all your Pikmin back. It’s a great way to figure out boss strategies without having to run back and forth from the Onion.
