Oxenfree 2, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Cuphead, And More Highlighted At Tribeca Games Spotlight
Last year’s Tribeca Games Spotlight debut featured narrative-lead titles like Kena Bridge of Spirits and Lost in Random. We also loved Sable, one of our favorite 2021 games. This year, the presentation continued and was brimming with games that look equally promising. The Spotlight showcased nine unique experiences, with much-anticipated titles like A Plague Tale: Requiem and Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, and some lesser-known indie games that deserve a spot on players’ to-watch list. Here are some highlights of the program, in case it was missed.

Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals
Oxenfree 2, Lost Signals, is sure to make you jump into Night School Studio’s fantastic world. New footage was shown of Riley exploring nighttime trails, abandoned buildings and haunted caves with Jacob, Riley’s longtime friend. Night School Studio lovers will recognize the playful banter between them. The Spotlight announced that characters will explore alternate timelines. This time-hoping will allow players to go back and influence the past. The portals are open automatically, but Riley or Jacob can also open them to their specific purposes. The developers even characterized the characters’ motives as possibly “nefarious.” It will soon be released on PlayStation 5 (PS4), Switch (PS4) and PC.

A Plague Tale: Requiem
Hugo, Amicia and I first saw them in A Plague Tale : Innocence. The action/adventure stealth-centric video game came out in 2019. Although the gameplay was not perfect, it featured a sibling who survived a massive rat infestation. A Plague Tale 2: Reqiuem continues the story from where it left off. It looks as though this second adventure is going to be more dark than the one before. There were new scenes like Amicia locked in her cell, calling on the public to help her escape from the rat infestation. The game is about the supernatural but it remains grounded in real life. Amicia does not have the skills of a soldier so she prefers to be a stealthy and easily defeated. Requiem will be available on all major consoles this year, as well as the PC.

Cuphead: The Last Delicious Course
Studio MDHR’s much-anticipated DLC for Studio MDHR’s hand-drawn hit will finally be released this month. This massive expansion will be released June 30, and it promises all of the challenging and beautiful action that players loved about the base game.

Inmortality
Sam Barlow is best-known for Telling Lies and Her Story. He’s currently working on Immortality, his next interactive adventure. The game revolves around the mystery of Marissa Marcel, an aspiring actress who seems to have simply vanished. On Xbox Series X/S, and on PC, you can get into the action soon.

Venba
Players will unravel the story of an Indian mother who moves to Canada with her family in Venba. This story is set in the 1980s. The plot will examine themes like communication and cultural identity. A damaged recipe book is the game’s main narrative vehicle. Venba, the protagonist, is determined to save it and reconnect with her family. It is expected to arrive on PC in the near future, but no date has been set.

Thirsty suitors
Thirsty Suitors’ vibrant design and intriguing premise made it one of Spotlight’s best-loved games. This game was also the catalyst for the creation of Spotlight. You’ll play Jala, a single woman returning home for her sister’s wedding. You’ll be playing Jala, a single woman returning home for her sister’s wedding. One of the conflicts was shown in this footage as Jala’s third-grade boyfriend Sergio tries to win her love. Although the metaphorical jabs seem real and outrageous, Sergio eventually admits that his love for Jala is not based on any substantial. The game is coming to PC at the time it launches, although no information has been released.

American Arcadia
American Arcadia, which was recently shown at Summer Game Fest Live looks interactive in the spirit of Truman Show. The residents of the game’s seemingly perfect neighborhood are under 24/7 surveillance, all for entertainment. Trevor Hills has the courage to make a break for it. You can download the game to your PC today, although there is no release date. However, you will be able to play free demos of American Arcadia as well as all other listed games starting tomorrow.
Tribecca’s hands-on demo festival begins June 11 and will let players try out every game shown off today. Limited time slots available and will run until June 19. Make sure to reserve any game you wish to see as soon and as quickly as possible. You can find more details about the summer’s showcase season here.
