One Piece Odyssey is a new RPG coming to PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox

Bandai Namco announced Monday that the long-running manga One Piece will get a video game in celebration of its 25th anniversary. One Piece OdysseyThe series’ creator Eiichiro Oda will be telling a fresh, original story. He is also contributing new monster and character designs.

One Piece OdysseyIt will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2022. This is being developed and produced by ILCA, Inc., which is the same studio that introduced players to the PlayStation 4. Pokémon Brilliant DiamondAnd Pokémon Shining Pearl remakes.

The trailer One Piece Odyssey doesn’t give much information on how the game will actually play, outside of describing it as a “new One Piece PRG.” The brief gameplay clip shows series hero Luffy running around an island, climbing vines, searching treasure chests, and battling in what appears to be turn-based combat.

Here’s publisher Bandai Namco’s official description of the game’s story:

The Straw Hats are swallowed at sea by the huge storm during their trip, which is led by Monkey D. Luffy. The Straw Hats, led by Monkey D. Luffy, end up on an island filled with nature and are separated from one another. A new, adventurous voyage is begun by the crew, which encounters strange locals as well as powerful enemies and wonders of a wild nature. Luffy, his crew and you will be able to sail again together!
