Octopath Traveler 2 brings back the series’ ridiculous Easter egg

You can. Bad There is no such thing as dumb It’s good dumb. The naming conventions are what I am referring to when discussing the names of Octopath Traveler Its sequel will come out on February 24th for Nintendo Switch. I’ll be discussing the former.

Did you notice anything? Probably not, because you’re not on the level of these games’ writers. They, in an act of boldness and cunning the likes of which we rarely see, decided to spell out “Octopath” with the first letter of each protagonist’s name.

I know people who have put 200 hours into the first game, and downloaded the second game’s demo the minute it was available, and still didn’t know about this little nugget. There are also people I know that have not played a JRPG, but know of this great feat and share it with everyone they know. As I do, they are able to appreciate brilliance.

Needless to add, I still have questions. This idea arose at what stage of development? When they chose a story with eight characters, did the writers realize they were going to try this? This is an homage, or has this already been done? Or did someone awaken from a dream with the word “octopath” on their mind, write it in their journal, completely forget its provenance in the morning, but know that they needed to make a game about it, then have yet another dream the next night, in which some genius specter revealed the idea for the enigmatic initialism?

It’s worth noting that Octopath Traveler : Champions of the ContinentSquare Enix also released a mobile game, titled ‘The Game for Mobiles’. Octopath Traveler 2 This nomenclature was not used last year. This is probably due to the numerous story lines and many characters. Champions, but still, I’m disappointed in the writers nonetheless. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
