Obsidian’s medieval RPG Pentiment gets November release date on Xbox, PC
Obsidian Entertainment has announced Wednesday, Pentiment, the developer’s upcoming medieval narrative-adventure game, will be released on Nov. 15. Obsidian confirmed in an Xbox Wire article that preorders of the game were now open and that it will be available on November 15. Pentiment Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass are available on day one
Director Josh Sawyer created the game. It puts you in the shoes of Andreas Maler (a journey artist and detective) who lives in 16th-century Bavaria at the height of the Holy Roman Empire. Maler is required to unravel a string of scandals and murders that took place in fictional Tassing, and Kiersau Abbey over 25 years. The players must complete a variety of tasks to accomplish this task, including sneaking in an unnoticed abbey library and stealing information from patrons at taverns.

Aside from the game’s historical fiction setting, the quality of Pentiment that will most immediately leap out at players is the game’s art style, which pulls inspiration from late medieval manuscripts, woodcut prints, and early modern tapestries. It’s certainly one of the most unique approaches to visual design seen in a game in recent years, comparable to the Greek black-figure pottery art style of 2015’s Apotheon.
PentimentWindows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X will all be available.
