Obsidian announces Pentiment, a new RPG from Fallout New Vegas director

Obsidian Entertainment announced its next project. It is a 2D styled role-playing video game that revolves around branching narratives. Pentiment, on Sunday at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Josh Sawyer, game director (Pillars to Eternity, New Vegas: Fallout), Pentiment is slated to arrive on Xbox and Windows PC later this year, and will be available through Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service.

In November Pentiment is described as a “narrative adventure” and boasts a medieval painted art style. Here’s the game’s official description

In 16th-century Bavaria Pentiment willPlayers will be taken on a journey through Andreas Maler’s eyes as she experiences great social unrest during his time. The game’s director Josh Sawyer leads a skilled team of people who are inspired by historical documents, illuminated manuscripts, and woodcut prints.

PentimentObsidian has many other games under development, including one that Microsoft purchased in 2018 from Xbox Game Studios. The company is currently developing a backyard survival game.
