Norco Available Now with Game Pass on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC

Hello! I’m Yuts, a member of the game development collaborative Geography of Robots.

The first game we released was NorcoWe released the game in March, and now we are bringing it to consoles thanks to Raw Fury, our publisher. The game’s a first-person point-and-click adventure in the style of classics like Grabber, Rise of the DragonPlease see the following: Deja Vu. You play as Kay, a transient young woman who’s returned to her hometown of Norco, Louisiana following her mom’s death only to discover that her brother has gone missing. This narrative explores a strange and disturbing depiction South Louisiana that is filled with corrupt ditch prophets, influencers cults as well as distributed flesh AI and other visions for an alternate future. We’ve been surprised and extremely appreciative of the reception that the game’s been receiving, having won the first-ever Tribeca Games Award in 2021, as well as the “Long Feature” award at Berlin A Maze fest.

It all started as an informal geography assignment after Hurricane Katrina. My friend and I went on a trip through South Louisiana to take photographs and conduct interviews in order to learn more about the impact of Hurricane Katrina. I’m from Norco, so I was particularly focused on both the town and the surrounding “River Parish” region. This project was completed between 2007 and 2010. This project was completed between 2007 and 2010. I used this to build a side-scroller prototype based loosely on the observations and research we’d been collecting. I began collaborating with the sound artist “Gewgawly I” during that period, and the project quickly grew in scope.

Aaron Gray, who signed with Raw Fury around 2020, joined the team to assist in porting Unity’s JavaScript library into Unity. Jesse Jacobi, a traditional artist and pixel artist joined our team in the next year. We had an intimate team of people and a strong community by the launch date in March.  We’ve been spending the past several months adding quality-of-life features to the game. These include a combat bypass; an “expert mode” for players who want more challenging puzzles; custom fonts; and gamepad support that we very much hope console players will find comfortable and intuitive.
