Nintendo clears up confusion over Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s name

Nintendo has revealed the title of the much-anticipated sequel The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildThis Tuesday. Next mainline Zelda title will be called Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of ZeldaFans were left with one question after hearing the dramatic ending: Which are your tears?

Mainly, how should we read or pronounce “tears”? It could be read as either “tears,” as in crying or shedding a tear, or as “tears,” as in tearing a piece of paper.

On Friday, Nintendo clarified that the game name is meant to be read as “tears,” as in crying, Eurogamer reported. Here you have it. Perhaps we’ll be crying our eyes out as we play this Zelda video game.

This mystery aside, there is intrigue already building as many theories have been generated by eager gamers based upon the trailers.

Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of ZeldaNintendo Switch will release it in May 2023.
